AI voice calls — actually talk to your companion

Typing is great at 2AM. But sometimes you want to hear a voice. Talk companions support live voice calls: you speak, they answer out loud — in real Indian voices, with Hinglish code-switching that sounds like home.

The call is a real conversation, not a walkie-talkie. You can interrupt mid-sentence (barge-in) like on a normal phone call. The companion’s voice streams with low latency, and what you said on the call condenses into her memory — so Monday’s chat continues Sunday’s call.

Built for Indian voices and Hinglish ears

Talk’s voice pipeline runs on Sarvam AI’s Bulbul voices — Indian voices built for Hindi-English code-mixing, with natural pace and warmth. Not an American voice awkwardly reading Devanagari: a voice that says "arre yaar" the way your friends do.

You speak, the browser’s speech recognition (tuned for Indian English + Hinglish) transcribes, the companion thinks in her own persona, and her reply streams back as speech sentence-by-sentence — the first sentence starts playing while the rest is still being written.

Realism, by design

Companions answer the call like people — they might even decline once in a while, like real people do. The call shows on the thread as an event ("📞 Voice call · 4:32") and the transcript becomes memory.

Voice style is per-character: Mira’s calls are soft and long, Rohan’s are loud and short. Each companion was voice-cast individually.

  • 37 Indian voices to draw from — per-character casting
  • Barge-in: interrupt any time, she stops and listens
  • Call transcripts become long-term memories
  • Fallback chain means calls keep working even if one engine hiccups
